Listing review
Let me first say that I am not one to eat a lot of so called "fusion" foods. But, Alan Wong's on King Street was some of the tastiest food I have ever had. The Crusted Onaga, Garlic Steak, Roast Duck Nachos appetizer and Haupia Coconut Dessert (Haupia sherbert in a dark chocolate "coconut"). The presentation was excellent as our appetizer looked like a large orchid. We also saw "Da Bag" (clams and kalua pig served in a large bag full of steam) which was recommended by many of our friends and it was neat to see them bring it out and "pop" the bag and the steam and smell was delicious, but we left that one for another time. I even felt that the butter had a sort of "bite" like that of a tinge of wasabe. The service was great! The waiters were very pleasant and sociable . Water was refilled the instantly and my iced tea never reached the bottom. The restaurant is a bit spendy, but well worth every penny! The only negative thing I could say was that the ambiance was a bit loud and although you are parked pretty close to the other diners, it gives you a great look at what some of the other dishes are. Plus, it never seemed that people minded that they were so close which is part of the experience of "Aloha". I have to admit that eating on the "deck" would be a bit different than where we were since it is on the thrid floor looking at the mountain side, but it was an excellent experience over all. Also of note, parking is limited and almost everyone valet's their cars for a very minimal price (about $3 plus tip). I'm planning my next trip back already!
